Software Sales Executive

About the company

Shipmate is a shipping automation Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for mid-size merchants and local delivery companies. We connect merchant order processing systems with domestic and international delivery services provided by all mainstream UK and Ireland carriers.

Shipmate is used to fulfil orders by printing shipping labels and sharing tracking details with merchants and their customers. Shipmate helps speed up and simplify order fulfilment, while reducing potential for human error and ensuring the most cost-effective delivery services are always used.

Shipmate is operated by our parent company, Codemakers, which also provides contract consultancy and development services. We are a team of strategic thinkers, inquisitive in nature with an optimistic and determined outlook who solve real-world business challenges with solid, highly functional digital solutions that delight users. Our products and services are trusted by famous brands and used by thousands of people every day.

About the role

We are seeking a Sales Executive to join our team as part of a high-growth drive following new product feature launches. The role suits salespeople with proven experience in driving growth through meeting and exceeding sales targets in a B2B context, ideally for software companies, within the ecommerce or logistics sectors, or SaaS platforms.

You will be instrumental in the development of an outbound sales strategy, putting that into practice on a daily basis to achieve ambitious growth targets in the lead-up to and following the launch of a significant investment in product development and marketing materials.

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties:

  • Outbound prospecting and lead generation via telephone, email and other means
  • Handling inbound leads and enquiries
  • Arranging and conducting product demonstrations and consultations
  • Nurturing and converting leads to successful close
  • Customer success reviews working alongside our on-boarding team, making sure customers are getting the best possible value from the platform
  • Assisting with marketing efforts including defining campaign concepts, attending trade shows, producing website content and social media interactions
  • Nurturing relationships with our partners
  • Managing feature requests with our product team

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in B2B sales
  • Evidence of persistent achievement and over-achievement of sales targets
  • Working knowledge of application of technology and IT in business
  • Confidence in delivering product demonstrations remotely
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to capture and comprehend customer requirements and arrive at solutions to ensure good product fit

Your application will be considered favourably if you have:

  • Previous experience within a software / SaaS sales environment
  • Previous experience within ecommerce, logistics or similar sectors
  • Previous experience selling to merchants, manufacturers and similar businesses
  • Configured and maintained sales software / CRM systems
  • Produced marketing materials, website content or managed social media interactions

The successful candidate will have a wide range of opportunities to continue to grow their skills, while having the opportunity to influence team capability through improving working practices and introducing new systems and processes. Career progression opportunities include Business Development Manager and Sales Director roles.

As a business we value customer satisfaction above all else and as such favour a consultative approach ensuring good product market fit, with the commission structure placing an emphasis on customer satisfaction in addition to other performance metrics.

This role is open to candidates located in the United Kingdom and is a hybrid role, operating from our office in Derby city centre.

What's the working environment like?

We operate from an office in Derby city centre, on a hybrid basis. The office provides a relaxed working environment with all the equipment you need to carry out your role. We have daily team discussions by video conference and a wealth of remote working applications and tools to support hybrid on-site and remote working.

Initially you will be required to attend the office regularly for on-site training and role familiarisation, with this requirement reducing over your probationary period to occasional office working. You will therefore need to be within a commutable distance to Derby city centre.

What does my employment package include?

  • A base salary of £26,500
  • Sales commission structure with OTE in excess of £50,000
  • Flexible working hours
