Graduate Software Developer
About the role
We are looking for a Graduate Software Developer to help support our existing development team. The role would suit graduates of Computing Science or similar Software Engineering and Computer Games Programming degrees.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting our existing development team in developing and maintaining projects both internal and external for our clients
- Producing clean, well-documented code, applying industry recognised design patterns and testing where applicable
- Managing your project contributions using team development tools and source code repositories
The role includes a wide range of opportunities to grow your skills, learn new programming languages and frameworks and specialise in the fields that suit you best. “On the job training” in all aspects of the role will be given throughout your first year on the Graduate programme, with training materials provided. As you grow into your role, you will be given increasing responsibilities including customer support and project management.
Our projects are written in a number of programming languages including Swift, Kotlin, Java, C#, PHP, Go and Ruby-on-Rails. Most our solutions are deployed to Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure and there is the opportunity to support the devops aspects of the business as part of this role.
Am I suitable for the role?
We are seeking a competent programmer with a positive attitude eager to make an impact on projects, learn new skills and who has excellent communication skills. Evidence of self-started projects, freelance work or prior industrial experience is favourable. While we don’t expect you to have worked with all of the development languages we use, if you have demonstrable experience in some of them, this will also be seen as favourable.
What’s the working environment like?
The Codemakers office is based at Friar Gate Studios, opposite ‘The Copper Building’ on the outskirts of the Cathedral Quarter. We have a modern working environment, a relaxed dress code and all the equipment you need to carry out your role, with endless free tea and coffee. There is an on-site café and you are only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town for lunch and after-work activities.
What does my employment package include?
- A starting salary of £22,500
- 21 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Team days out and opportunities for trips abroad
- Time to develop your skills and an annual training allowance
- Flexible working hours
- Bupa medical insurance
- Choice of iMac or MacBook Pro
Sounds great! How do I apply?
